New beginnings

As beautiful as the red cherry blossoms are, their rarity makes me adore them even more. Their ability to withstand the harshest of weather conditions, to grow and blossom beautifully is truly admirable. Despite the environmental shortcomings, the cherry blossom rises above it all; overcoming everything and becoming stronger, more beautiful than ever.

This painting was inspired by my family. Bouncing back up following a rough patch, facing the struggles of life together, being there for each other and getting back up stronger and better than ever. This time last year, I had set a goal, and today, I am over the moon to say I have accomplished it. 

This piece represents courage, good fortune, resilience, strength and unity. When I look at this painting, I feel at ease, I feel at peace. I really enjoyed working with the contrasting colours of yellows, reds and greens all standing out individually while also working very well together breathing life to the overall picture. I am especially fond of the gold blended within the sky, which shimmers wonderfully when it catches the light.
